Director's Message


D.A.V. Educational and Welfare Society was established in .... with an aim to support unprivileged and under-privileged section of the society, enabling the people to become self reliant. For the last so many years the society has been carrying out activities related to community welfare like vocational, educational and awareness programmes, with special emphasis on youth, women and elderly people. Society started working from resettlement colony of Sultanpuri where urban under-privileged population resides, but now have centers at Narela, Kirari and Kirti Nagar.

The society has taken up the programmes such as Cutting, Tailoring and Embroidery, Beauti-culture and Mehandi, especially for women, Computer Training at Sultanpuri. In addition to this O P D For Senior citizen, Jewellery Making, Recreation Center for senior citizens, Immunization for children & women, DOTS center at Sultanpuri. Our regular features at Sultanpuri center are Tuition for 6th to 9th Class, Electrician training, Mobile Repairing Training, Plumber Training and Jute bag making. The Society has taken up Programs on Health related issues. Society is running a DOTS Center and organized immunization Program for Children. An OPD for elderly people on every Monday & General OPD from Monday to Saturday is running at Kirari Village of North-West District of Delhi. At Narela, a Target Intervention Center is running for spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS among labour working in food market and at Kirti Nagar training in Jewellery making, Jute bag making is running. The Society has also taken up 'Awareness Programmes' with the help of various Government Departments. It has organized programmes on Self-defense for women, Consumer awareness programme, Road Safety programme and Crime against Women awareness programme. With the financial support of Delhi State AIDS Control Society (DSACS), society has organized HIV/AIDS awareness programmes in schools and residential colonies in North-West District. Society is running an ambulance van facilitiy provided by Dropti Devi Charitable Trust, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi. The van is available in the area 24 hours throughout the year for the needy and emergency cases. Society has taken up campaigns for 'Save the Girl Child' and 'Environmental Awareness' in the area from time to time.

Society is carrying out all its welfare programmes with the help of various government departments such as Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. (Delhi Govt.), Social Welfare Department (Delhi Govt.), Directorate of Health Service (Delhi Govt.), Municipal Corporation North Delhi (Delhi Govt.), Muncipal Corporation Gurgaon (Haryana Govt.), Mission Conversion (Delhi Govt.), Delhi State Aids Control Society (Delhi Govt.), Directorate of Technical Education (Delhi Govt.), NYKS Ministry of Youth Affairs (Govt. of India), Directorate of Education Govt. Of NCT Of Delhi and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Integrated Rural Energy Planning and Development. In addition, some Corporate/ PSUs such as Tata Power DDL, Reliance Power and other Trusts such as Rotary Club Gurgaon and Rohini, Dropti Devi Charitable Trust, Smridhi Sansthan, Jaipur, have joined hand with the society for the welfare activities.

DAV Educational and Welfare Society is marching ahead and aspire to achieve its goal in empowering urbanized poor and making them self reliant, with all support from its partners. The society is thankful to all organizations and individuals who have directly or indirectly associated with us in achieving the objectives.
